summer & reflection.
Finally. Sun, shorts & relaxation.
I definitely learned a lot this class. It was pretty intimidating coming in here the first day and realizing that bunch of people already knew the programs well, but I’m happy to say that my knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign has grown quite a bit! – Also, I’m no longer afraid of these programs and will be using and experimenting with them much more often now. =)
I’m really glad we ended off with publications of our own and are able to have something from this course that we can keep forever! It was great to see the variety of themes people explored and the personal touch everyone added to their publications.
Also! After I have briefly explored this whole blogging-thing for this class, I have decided to work on my own blog this summer – so if you are interested, I will soon be posting the link to this page and you all can see what I’m up to for the next four months!
Thanks, great working with all of you =)
final project: INDESIGN publication.
For my final project, I decided to create a publication of some of my photography, both darkroom and digital. The publication is mainly composed of portraits. It was fun to create and something I enjoy because it portrays a variety of my favourite photographs I’ve taken over the last couple years.
Enjoy! The link is below to connect to a PDF of my publication =)
always wanted to paint?
Another interesting site that I came across in Design class this week, definitely give it a try!
The type at the beginning is in Spanish, but once it loads you move your mouse along the screen and paint! Every once in a while a bunch of pictures will explode from the stroke! It’s entertaining and the music is very calming.

can you resist the click?
Here’s a site to check out and see how much you really enjoy clicking.
It was a site that was made approximately four years ago as an experiment to see how people feel about using their mouse and if they miss ‘clicking’ when they don’t have to.
It’s worth it to try clicking on the site as well, see what happens!

Try number one & try number two & revision after critique.
I found myself thinking hard about the environmental issues around Vancouver that concerned me the most. It was very difficult for me to decide on one until I came back to White Rock for the Olympic break — only to discover that more of the gorgeous trees & forests that I had grown up in as a child are disappearing. It’s very hard for me to witness and something that I know will continue to bother me in the future.
This realization allowed me to come up with my idea for the illustrator project. I wanted to create a powerful image by showing a city landscape with roots viciously growing beneath it – trying to escape.
We are blessed with so much nature and areas that are rich with shades of green and wildlife, yet it seems like every day there is a new chunk of it being taken away from us and a highrise being built in it’s replacement.
